  PRESS RELEASE
An
exhibition at IADT, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, 30 November – 3 December 2009
"Size doesn’t matter
it’s how you use it, is a group exhibition which playfully works with the
issues of size, scale and hanging of contemporary artworks. The exhibition is
an exercise in curatorial practice aimed at bringing together works of
different scales and media to highlight issues regarding the use of space
within a contemporary gallery setting. Through
discussion and debate this group of emerging artists attempted to break away
from a ‘neutral’ display of work, bursting the self-constructed
bubble around artworks. How much wall space should an individual work be
allocated? Do large scale works merit more space or can they impose on each
other to create a dialogue? Small scale works can still command attention. The
location of a work in a gallery context can reinforce the concept of the work."
Exhibiting Artists: Adam Gibney, Ann Minehane, Aisling Bolger, Cormac Murray, Emma Coen, Gina Forde, Jamie Crosbie, Leah Hewson, Lucy Murphy, Blaithin Quinn, Kevin Doran and Fergal Dunne.
